Happy Easter Everyone!!

The labor day story... from daddy.

Keegan Matthew was born at 12:03 a.m. on April 11th. He weighed 8 lbs and 2.4 oz. He was 21.25 inches long.

Jill went into labor at about 1 a.m. on the 10th. She spent all morning having contractions, so we went to the hospital at about 4 a.m. when her contractions were about 4 minutes apart. After spending a few hours at the hospital, we were sent home because there was no perceivable progression with the labor. We went home for a couple of hours. During a walk around the neighborhood, Jill started
having much more intense contractions.

So, we called the mid-wife and she asked us to go to her office so that she could check Jill before we made another hospital trip. At her office, the mid-wife hooked Jill up to a monitor that would show her contractions. After a few minutes of intense contractions, there was about 8 minutes of nothing. Jill started to think that she was in false labor, but I bet her that her body was saving up for a super contraction. I was right :) After a 9 minute lull, she had a monster contraction. While sitting in the doctors office, on a nice leather chair and next to another pregnant woman being monitored, her water broke and leaked everywhere! At this point she was 3 cm dilated.

This, of course, was pretty exciting. We made our way to the hospital and were admitted into labor and delivery. She was having intense contractions for about 6 hours. She got checked and was only dilated to 4cm. At this point, she decided to get an epidural. I was glad because she looked miserable, and I couldn't believe that she lasted that long without anything to help the pain. What a champ! This was about 8 p.m.

After she got the epidural things really progressed quickly. Within the next few hours, she went from 4 cm dilated to fully dilated. When pushing time came, it only took a few contractions and out popped baby. I was pretty emotional but kept my composure :)

By this point we were incredibly tired (I can't imagine just how tired Jill was), and we felt like zombies! I got to cut the umbilical cord and then we spent the next few hours going through all the newborn baby procedures.

After another couple of hours, we got transfered to the postpartum area. We were thinking that we could catch a few Z's but there was some nurse this or doctor that in our room all night.

In the morning we were greeting by several visitors. Everyone was awesome, but
no matter how awesome they were we were so TIRED and wanted just a little sleep!
So, last night we actually got to do a little sleep catch-up.

Jill and the baby are doing excellent and we came home from the hospital around 1pm on Easter! We were greeted back home with a nice Easter dinner.

We are happy that my Mom and Dad are here to help and also lucky that Jill's Mom
and Dad were able to make it in from Chicago for the birth!

We'll get some pictures out when I get a chance, but trust me he is handsome :)

Look forward to being a dad!

9 days....

Only 9 days to go until my due date... too long! So, I am at 38 weeks and 5 days.

These last couple of weeks have really been dragging, and I really feel like our little dude is going to stay in there until PAST his due date.

I feel way more than ready for him to come out, and no one can predict how much longer it will be.

I've been walking every day, trying to move him further down and more ready to come out. The doctor said his head is already really low, but as of this week, still only dilated to 1cm. But, that could still mean I could go into labor at any moment.

So.... no baby yet, but I'll be sure to update everyone as stuff changes!!!
